Challenge

An electric and broadband utility needed to connect their considerable fiber optic network to a carrier hotel located 5 miles away. Doesn’t sound too bad, except there were two rivers railroad tracks and two freeways in between. Also the customer needed a diverse path with a dual ring architecture and multiple fiber strands within each ring.

Solutions

Post-Sale Project Management

Results

We found a provider with dark fiber for sale in the area. Since the customer possessed a fiber of their own we were able to overlay the two networks and find the one location where they could meet. There needed to be about 6000’ of fiber run and a new lateral to complete the second ring. They negotiated for a 10 year contract to keep the costs within budget. Once they were on net at the carrier hotel they are now able to connect to any of dozens of ISP providers in that facility.
